Small businesses across the Far North will soon get the chance to attend expert seminars outlining how to better use the internet.

Cairns business White Source has been selected by the Federal Government to help improve the online capabilities of 200 Far North small businesses.

The initiative will pull together six internet and online experts who will conduct the seminars in Cairns on March 2.

White Source director Kevin White said: "You will have some people who are far more online savvy and things are going along quite nicely. Others are thinking, well what is this online stuff and how do we get into it, what do we do about it?"

Those attending the seminar will also hear from Sam Cullen of Tourism Websites Australiasia, Robert Rutten of Rutten Technology Services, Wendy Ackland from Burnt Toast Marketing, Nicky Jurd from cityofcairns.com and Emmy Kerrigan from Atlas Projects.

Mr Rutten said every business would benefit.

"There are so many different systems that can be used, and they are not always used appropriately. So, these experts here can say: OK, this is the right system to use for your particular situation," Mr Rutten said.

Leichardt MP Jim Turnour said the seminars were good for the small business community.

Similar seminars will be held at Port Douglas, Cooktown, Innisfail and Mission Beach following the Cairns sessions.
